**Our wax coating provides additional leather protection but is not the waterproof element. Leather will show water absorption, and the internal waterproof membrane protects from external moisture.

Children's Mitten sizing is simple! You know your child best, are they an early bloomer or late flower? Use your judgement wisely, but here is our go-to recommendation:

Size 1 - Children Ages 1-2 years old

Size 3 - Children Ages 3-4 years old

Size 5 - Children Ages 5-6 years old

Size 7 - Children Ages 7-8 years old

For children ages 9 and over, we recommend our Frontier Mitten size XS!

Washing/Cleaning Tips:

• Just don't clean 'em! Leather mittens look better with some good ol' dirt and grease and with time you'll come to love the new patina.
• Can't resist? Use a damp cloth (no soap!) to wipe away dirt from the surface of the leather mitts and then dry them slowly in front of a fan.

Tried-N'-True Drying Techniques: 

Choosing to give’r often means taking the road less traveled. And sometimes it requires some blood, sweat, and tears. Should the elements put your gloves to the test, here is a range of helpful drying techniques, listed from most effective to least:

• *Fastest* Place your mitts on a boot/glove warmer. Make sure to create a gap for airflow on the elastic cuff.
• Place your leather mittens on their sides in front of a standard fan, ensuring maximum airflow. Put a paper towel tube in the wrist cuff to assist with airflow.
• Use any accessible products that absorb moisture or allow for airflow (i.e. shoe dehydrator, newspaper, etc.) and place them in the sun.

DO NOT:

• Turn glove or mitten inside out
• Wring out like a dish towel
• Place too close to the fire
• Place on your car exhaust
• Place on a radiator
• Place in the microwave

The Oven Method

1. If between sizes, what should I do?

We'd recommend selecting the larger option!

2. On first wear, the gloves are snug, is this normal?

Yes! These mittens are designed to be snug at first, as they will begin breaking in on first use. The insulation will pack out and begin to fully fill the leather outer shell. The leather itself will begin to break in and form to your individual hands. The more they are used, the better they will fit as they become an extension of your hand and fingers.
